To ease the pressure on the bank staff that has devoted incredible man hours to serve the people in the entire two weeks, and the efforts common men have been putting; following the demonetization policy announced earlier in this month, the government has extended the use of old 500 Rs. notes till December 15, 2016.

With this, the exchange load in banks would be drawn down and lesser crowds would be seen around. But the 1000 notes would no longer be in use, hence they need to be deposited over the counter.

The government even declared to use the old 500 notes for payment of fees in state and central govt. schools and colleges including municipality schools. Pre-paid mobile recharges could be made, foreign tourists can exchange currency upto Rs.5000 per week.
